Noircon 2008 - Awassa Auction-

Like a shadowy figure in a dark alley, NoirCon 2008 is sneaking up on us.
NoirCon 2008 (April 3rd thru 6th, 2008) is shaping up to be the years’ most exciting mystery writers’ event – and with your help we can make it even better.
Knowing the mystery fan’s love of twisting plots, back-stabbing trickery, dark deals and clever cons, we’ve decided to add a thrilling live auction to the Saturday night (April 5th, 2008) festivities – and here’s where you come in.
We’re looking for the goods – signed books, manuscripts, character naming, meet-the-author dinners, theatre tickets, oyster fruit, artwork, jewel-encrusted statues of birds covered in black lacquer...the kind of stuff that dreams are made of and that will have the masses fighting to outbid each other. Convicted auctioneer and noted smooth talker, Charles Benoit will be rapping the gavel for this event, driving the bidding high as he promotes the heck out of you for your generous donation.
We plan on raking in the big bucks – and here’s why. The Awassa Children’s Project. In Ethiopia, nearly 900,000 people have died from AIDS since 2003. Experts are projecting a cumulative death toll of 1.8 million by 2008. Education about prevention is beyond essential.
The Awassa Children's Project promotes sensible, culturally responsible relief work aimed at assisting children primarily orphaned by AIDS, educating people in Africa's Sub-Saharan region about AIDS prevention, and offering a proactive and immediate approach towards the resolution of serious health and social issues facing region. It trains children for the One Love AIDS Education Theatre, a crazy, musical, gymnastic, funny, physical, scary theater about AIDS. The basic message of prevention, information, testing and compassion for the sick is the underlying theme at every performance. One Love has even expanded to deliver awareness information about landmines and un-exploded ordinances in their homeland. Most important, it works. You can learn more at the Awassa Children’s Project website. And you can help – right now – by sending in your auction item donation to:NoirCon C/o Society Hill Playhouse, 507 south 8th Street, Philadelphia, PA. 19147.
Thanks to your donation for the NoirCon 2008 Auction for the Awassa Children’s Project, Noir just might be the new light.
Thank you for your opening your hearts and mind for this noble cause.
